Title: Which Kick startlever
Post by: peter small on 30.12. 2016 17:29
I am considering buying a new Kick start  lever for my Rocket,  but there are a couple to choose from with the folding arm.

One has a clip for the earlier models and the later one is a spring and ball bearing internals to keep the arm from swinging about.
Are the clip ones any better than the later ball bearing model which i have now.

Please read this Pete http://www.a7a10.net/forum/index.php?topic=11347.0
Since you are in the UK, I would suggest to take a kickstarter shaft with you to the shop and test fit the lever AND the cotter pin. We Skippys have to pay postage over and back on dodgy parts!

Pete - you could talk to beezermacc (Priory Magmetos).  A fund of relevant knowledge and a source of parts at sensible prices.

My only connection is as a very satisfied customer.

I have restored a couple of a10s and several a65's. I can tell you the originals with the clip come out further than the new ones you buy without, causing an exhaust clearance issue. I have my originals all rechromed, if that's not an option, definitely make sure the new clip type is the same bend as original.

Yep, I had the same problem with a standard A10 exhaust. Now fitted with siamese pipes and tapered Goldie style muffler and the pattern part clears the new muffler, lucky for me.

I bought a folding kick lever for my Plunger A10 early '80's in the UK somewhere, and it has 'K CE10' and 'MCE' forged in it. Much chunkier than the other I have, and about a half inch shorter, but same profile. The cotter seems to work but I elected to use the one I had which isn't stamped 'BSA', but feels factory. I'll try add a pic sometime
