Title: Greetings from Germany (Bodensee, Austria border) ...now France
Post by: a10gf on 23.03. 2017 16:43
*smile* hello, on my way (by car) to a holiday in France, ferry to Denmark, and just finished the tedious drive trough Germany, now the real trip begins. Swiss alps next, then north Italy and over alps towards Grenoble, then south to Alpes Maritimes.

Live from San Bernardino pass, was hoping the old pass road was open, but too early in the year. Will be back there summertime someday.

Am at my house in France (up in the mountains 60 km from Nice\Cannes), not been there for many years. Washed the dust off the XT 500, survived the stay in the garage quite well, and strangely nobody stole it! Great machine, but will be sold (many enthusiasts here for that model).

I spotted the house\property while driving around in the area on the A10 (in 2002, see http://www.a7a10.net/BSA/2002tour.htm), and bought it (quite inexpensive at the time) for use 'sometime' in the future.

Meteo for the region looking good ! "1000" things to do in the garden and with the house.

A little sad I can no longer think of such travels on a bike, but no regrets, as done (several times) while still had the chance, and had some great times.

G'day e.
So it's a working holiday, the best type.
Are you game to kick the beast into life? I drowned mine a few weeks back.
Cheers

That's normal and well known. At one point or another, all xt 500 owners must throw their bike off a cliff into the sea.
lol

Going through a 1m deep creek she stopped dead. Lucky she didn't get a lung full. Pushed out of creek and started on the 4th kick.

^^^ It's 1988, socalled Anniversary model, just some extra chrome afaik.

So it's a working holiday, the best type.

Indeed. Fixing things morning till evening, enjoyable to see things slowly getting better as the days go by.

Not tried starting, needs some attention first + clutchplates are stuck. No hurry, and someone may buy it 'as is'.

...and am still in France, enjoying sun & warmth, working hard cleaning up an overgrown property.

Internet works 'just' up here in the mountains, using the phone's 3G as wifi for the pc, enough to keep in touch with the world, and doing forum maintenance.

And BSA related, as it's the A10 who made me end up with a house\property here, I found\bought the place while touring the region on the GF, see http://www.a7a10.net/BSA/2002tour.htm

& enjoying the myriad of butterflies who starts to appear :O)
