Title: M.A.P. H-beam rods

Hi all,
       I'm about to purchase two H-beam con rods from M.A.P. But on the discription notes it states no big end oiling hole.
Does this mean that a hole would need to be made before they are fitted.
My bike is 1960 A10 SA.
Many thanks to anyone in the know.

G'day Tim.
Don't you go anywhere near those rods with a drill. 1: it may weaken them and 2: will void any warranty.
She'll be just fine without the hole.

First of all, do as Musky says. This is not at all advice to the contrary, just my little story.

When I got an earlier generation of MAP billet alloy rods they came without a hole. I drilled one and I think I'm OK, so far (with respect the connecting rods, only  *smile*). I'm thinking that the hole in aluminum is less of a stress fracture point than in steel. Curious to hear if that is a stupid thought.

Who sells these rods please? I'm after some new conrods for an 850 commando and starting to look into suppliers and costs. And yes, I know it's the wrong brand for this forum!  *eek*

Andover Norton supply forged rods (as originals). That's where I would go.

It's 'cos we have catholic tastes Peter!

I've got one mid-60s Norton twin and a Norton-engined AMC desert sled.  I've been impressed by availability of all the oily bits for them, I must say, and I especially like Andover Norton for 'helpful'. (Not that Feked haven't also been good, especially for one particular exhaust system.)

Should add I have also been happy with the Beesa oily bits I've had from most of the well-known suspects. Seem to do what what they say on the tin anyway as it's a darn reliable machine. Some parts are harder than for Notruns though!
