Im sure this question has been asked before, the mag on my bike ( 1951 A7 ) has just a botton on the Mag to stop the motor, it must have had a kill switch at some time as there was a button on the bars and wiring running to the mag but not attached, the only possible place I can see is towards the other end a terminal, holding a brush, nothing on the cap end.

You need a different end cap, to fit a handlebar kill button.
It would be a good idea.

thanks Musky, I see a cover in there with a cut out lead, will that work on a manual advance set up, the cover I have is held by two screws, that one appears to be held from the centre

The conversion isn't quite as easy as it appears. If you have the end cap which is held on by two nuts ( usually dome nuts) the screws underneath also hold the cam ring housing on. You would need to remove these and replace them with screws with countersunk heads. You will also need to drill and cut a thread on one of the other corners of the cam ring housing to accept the clip post to hold the new plastic cover. It might be easier to adapt your existing cover to accept the insulated kill brush as fitted to the later type covers, or you could just make an adaptation which would hold a brush behind a spring, insulated from the end cap.

I successfully converted my cover with a button to take a wire and brush; it's on here somewhere, if i have a chance I'll have a look.
I think that one KP post needs the clippost that B- mac was describing ?

I'm not sure if I've mentioned it on multiple occasions but this is probably what I'm thinking of;
