Title: A10 Super Rocket rattle
Post by: bikerjohndavies on 15.08. 2017 08:57
Hi guys, I have had a random rattle from my SR engine over the last couple of years or so and I have finally got round to trying to track it down. The cause seems to be a bit of play in the drive side small end and there is evidence of the piston skirt kissing the fly wheel. The big end seems OK but do you think that play in the small end would give enough movement for the piston skirt to touch or should I go the whole hog and split the engine to check out the crank ? Cheers, John

G'day John.
I would say it depends on the breed of piston. Some may have shorter skirts than others (naughty girls).
A bad little end will also put stress on the big end. I'd split her for a freshen up and new rods.
Your lucky to have had a bad little end knock for so long and not throw a leg outa bed.
Cheers
