Title: why do deals appear when I have no funds??????
Post by: jachenbach on 25.10. 2017 03:59
Got a phone call this afternoon. The widow of the guy I got my Velocette from still has a few bikes, and a good friend of she and her husband was wondering if I might be interested in an Ariel Square Four, Triumph Thunderbird and Norton Model 50. Never had any interest in the Square Four, but the Norton...... told him if she wants to wait about 6 months I may be able to swing a deal on that. Been making 2 mortgage payments since March, but should be closing on sale of the old house in a few weeks. With a little time to recover, I may be able to do something then. The real question is, why am I even interested???? I currently have 4 project bikes not yet finished and a couple more in the shed waiting their turn. I certainly don't need another, but.........................I'm a very sick individual.

I was recently offered an immaculate Vincent Rapide, probably the best out there, at the bargain price of only £30,000. It's worth a lot more than that. Sigh...

If it really  was the bargain it appears to be (and so often in life it seems, it wouldn't be) I'd borrow the money and keep it until the Spring (with the occasional ride and daily hugging session) then sell it, and with the profits I'd buy something more useable and/or mundane.
That way you've made some money and actually owned and ridden a Vin.... ;)

It's a bit more complicated. The owner is a family friend and the one thing I couldn't do is sell it for a profit. Hence the sigh.

Just been offered TWO Shooting Stars in the same circumstances, got the money but no room at all and a strict  wife.

I can easily make room for the pair if you want to shop them to the US for storage. *smile*

For me it's more money = no time or plenty of time but no money.
