Title: Euro Lucas Headlight
Post by: A10 JWO on 13.12. 2017 16:48
I have just bought a very nice nearly new Lucas headlight assembly for another BSA project ( A 65 ) I have been told that the lens was designed for the European bikes. What will the difference be compared with UK. I thought the beam was up or down or do they kick towards the kerb over here. Thanks.

Lights used where you drive on the right dip to the right.

Useless and illegal in the UK.

Thanks Triton. As I won't need an MOT as from next year I will leave it in place and see how it performs in the dark. As for illegal, no Police round here anymore and they would not have a clue what they are looking at. Merry Xmas.

Shine it on a wall. The dipped beam should rise at the left.

If you use a foreign headlight, cars you meet in the dark will give you the full beam treatment.

If the headlamp is a right dip headlamp you will dazzle/confuse drivers of oncoming vehicles, and in the dark you wont pickup pedestrians or obstructions on the left of the road and be a mobile hazzard.

Make sure you use a proper dip left or dip vertical unit on UK roads for safety of all road users.

Hi Julian. The bike will not be ready till May 2018. I will pick up the correct lens by then, it was the rare main shell I was lucky enough to secure. I will ebay the Euro light to one of our friends across the channel. Thanks for genuine responsible views.

If you was to dazzle anyone with a Lucas light, they'd truly be forever bedazzled..... *idea* *idea* *idea* *idea*
