Title: Head gasket
Post by: stev60 on 11.02. 2018 06:49
I have just taken the top off my A7, mainly due to oil running from from the rocker cover area, but wasnt sure if the head gasket was weeping a bit. Top gasket was really  stuffed and probably the culprit. One head bolt was missing *eek*. I ve a new carbon fibre gasket, and was going to use it , has anyone had any issues with these, the copper one is in good nick and would only need re annealing. Engine has been rebored to its max, so hopefully the sludge trap work has been done, the motor runs well , always starts first kick and no smoke. No lip on the bore.

The above popped up when I searched on "carbon gasket".

Any further updates would be welcome too.

Another use-an-existing-topic-rather-than-start-a-new-one question:

Are A7 and A10 head gaskets identical? (Not at my parts book right now.)

Hi Richard,
Short answer, No not the same

However, if you can't get an A7 head gasket, you can use an A10 one. The gap at the top of the bores will soon carbon up.

G'day Richard.
A10 = 67-0255, A7 =  67-382. As BS said, I use A10's in the A7.

Yes, after hearing from John I had a chance to check the parts book via Draganfly. I saw the different part numbers. When I got home I looked at my collection of old head gaskets (which included the one I stripped out of the A7) only to find them all the same type. On closer inspection, I noticed a discoloration where the A7's  D-shaped pushrod tunnel left some discoloration on the A10's boomerang-shaped pushrod cutout. I'm pretty sure this is the correct evaluation. Any disagreements?

 I'm sure that's how all mine look,  I thought the only difference is the size of the bore holes  *conf2*

Here's the two of them (not mine). They are probably scaled wrong because, here, it looks like the A7 (with the D-shaped pushrod opening) has larger bores.

 Off the top of- or maybe the dark corner at the back of- my head, I'm thinking the profile of the hole in the head(s) is/are different to/from the hole in the barrel...may be wrong  *conf2*
