Title: Dual Coil views.
Post by: A10 JWO on 13.02. 2018 11:53
Views on the Boyer 12 volt Twin Coil ( Dual Output ), currently running on tired old coils. The principle of the twin coils sounds OK . Anyone tried one, thanks.

Dual coils in general give the same engine running as separate coils.

I use a generic unbranded chrome plated dual coil with Wassell ignition and it works fine.

Note that Boyer sell low primary resistance CDI type coils that work with their Micro Power system but won’t work with with the other types of Boyer.

The only time I tried the dual coils was when I conveted my A65 to electronic ignition using the Pazon system it would not work so had to go back to seperate coils, I think it was something to do ohms resistence could not understand the information I was given so simplest thing to do was to go to seperate coils.

Yes, running them on both my A's with the older type Boyer (MKIII) for many years.
Cheers

Emgo twin coils with a Pazon ignition on 12v. No issues.

hi guys, have twin coil setup with `Thorspark`works well and sparks both plugs at the same time, if testing spark plug make sure you have both plugs grounded or you will not see a spark, cheers

This is WAAAAAY outta my league, so was trying to stay out of it- but dis'arvo after a hard days slog in the sun, I ran into a work buddy who has a '73 Tr-tr-tri- *conf2*tri-...Tryhard as I can can't say it ..and had a yarn with .anyway he said 'it' has a boyer (dunno what series/model) and would only run on one side.

He said it had the original 12V coils,  after some messing 'round, he went and bought some 6V coils and voila (yea know that Italian word when good fun stuff happens- not the instrument) ....seems something to do with being/not in series, buggered things..maybe not relevant here, but figured I'd pass it on anyway while it's fresh in my brain. I'll harass him more next time- hope it's helpfull
