Title: Bisto & UK gravy vs US gravy

I do ALL of the cooking at home . *sick* *sad2*
I'm rubbish at it. When my wife was out I made a cup of coffee with Bisto once *red*. After drinking half of it I said to my wife 'I don't go much on the new coffee'. Looking surprised she said 'What new coffee?'. When I pointed to it she said 'That's Bisto you fool' *eek*.

For anyone who doesn't know what Bisto is:

When my sister was learning cooking at school she accidentally used rice instead of pearl barley to make stew, my mother and sister both watched me eat it before telling me what had happened.

That doesn't sound too bad. Unless you mean sweet rice pudding.

When rationing ended, to celebrate,  I made a chocolate  cake from a recipe in (I think) the Junior Mirror. Seem to remember it contained mostly sugar and milk and didn't need heating ???  It was vile, but my brother ate it all. He should thank me now for since then he lost his sweet tooth for ever .

In truth, he still has all his own teeth. Whenever a dentist pulled a tooth,he'd ask for it back and keeps them together in a box. He now proudly says "I have all my own teeth" but doesn't say " they're in the garage".

Same here, it has to stick to the spuds when you dip them in.

Ok,

So you guys know what we call biscuits.

What do you call that food?

That food, smothered in sausage gravy is absolutely delicious, and is an entire meal unto itself. No, it is not healthy for you.

I got the impression that your biscuits are like our scones. Your gravy would be called a thick sauce here.
