Title: The thing about having TWO A10s...
Post by: LJ. on 09.08. 2018 13:33
Both 1961 models and registered in February of that year. But both entirely different machines to ride, I kid ye not!

The red A10 you see in the picture is my very first bike, so can't get rid of that. The blue A10 has a nice tight engine and will probably last longer but so fun to ride without all the clobber that the red one has. Oils? Red has the straight 50 because of worn engine, blue has Halfords classic 20/50 with filter. Both gearboxes straight 50, and primary has the Halfords 20/50.

Apart from their looks... The feel, sound, even the smell is all different! Strangely though this morning I gave them a start and warm up because it is two weeks since the blue was last used, took quite a few kicks, there is an allowed slight clutch slip, I prefer a light leverage at the bars. So it is a skill of kicking and starting without too much forced slip. (If you get my drift) The red this morning, not having been started for three months or so, decides to start after only two kicks and fires on one cylinder with a heck of a smoke out due to having wet sumped, soon cleared though and number two cylinder quickly decides to play as well.

Strange beasts, but I'd not be without them.  *good3*

Noted they are both 'SL' registrations, so started life local to each other also?

“The” thing about having two A10’s is that you (should) always have one running...  *smile*

Is that you LJ?

All to your disappointments I'm afraid... but no, that's not me, it's the eldest daughter, I'm not quite so pretty. I did notice the blue bike picture got the most views.
Thanks for kind comments on the bikes.  *smile*

The SL registrations I think are age related plates. I'm not even sure if the engines and frames are factory matched. I'll have to get onto the BSA owners club sometime.

Nutley Blue - look great in that colour. It was the colour of my 2nd Golden Flash (the one in my profile pic) mid 60s to mid 70s.

Motorbike nrop!

Ooh, I didn't know the picture would come with the quote!

Why is the word P O R N offensive so that it automatically gets reversed?

Ah you're just a *rick-teaser with your plunger-pair Mike!
I sold my semi-unit 500 motor/'box lump to start the build of my SR, and whilst I do love it, when I see these plunger semi-unit things, they do look SO sweet!
