Compared with modern bikes, our gearboxes are a bit slow and notchy. Well, all my BSA and Norton boxes have been. Which is why when I recently rebuild my GF I installed a roller camplate plunger instead of the original cone shaped item. The difference is amazing - positively silky changes. I don't know if they are commercially available, because I made my own after seeing a picture of one online some while ago. Well worth changing, in my view. Photo of device attached.

Hi Muskie,
The drawings were on Beeza Bills (RIP) web pages
I had them on my old PC so it would take some searching to find them

Thanks John.
Now I remember that's where I saw it. http://bsa-a10.hailwood.com/bsaimprovements.html
Bloody smart bloke Beeza Bill. Taken from us way too early. My timing side roller conversion is his design.

Hej RD, maybe you could edit the title to be a bit more specific ?
My Plungers' shifter is actually quite smooth and precise, but I remember reading about this roller pin a while ago- seemed like a good idea
