I like that, to stop the Norton leaking I have to put it on the centre stand (side stand to much lean) and with that I could adjust it to more upright and use it on gravel/grass etc. One question what are the bolts above and below the hole

I would guess, to stop the wood from splitting.

A few good points. You won't ride off forgetting to put the stand up. Fits down your jacket as a chest protector. Easily removed from jacket and hurled at offending cars.
