Title: mot time
Post by: rocket man on 20.07. 2009 20:48
Ive had my pride and joy m o t  today the tester dropped her
outside when the side stand went it snapped a bolt
so i got her home there was a bolt still in but it was bent
so i took the exhaust off to get at it he also smashed an
original bar end mirror and a tank badge was scratched
so i had a great day off i wouldn't mind but it had a center stand on

Bummer, that first scratch or dent is the worst, more so if your not the one to do it. Down here the tester barely touches the bike. Just checks the lights, horn and feels the brake levers. They think if you got there in one piece it must be OK. my A65L did the same thing many years ago. A sickening feeling when you park and walk away to hear the sound of crunching bits behind you. Good luck with repairs, send him the bill.
Cheers

Hi Rocketman,
Is there any comeback if the tester damages your vehicle?
Maybe its a good job theres no MOT on motorcycles over here in Ireland?
Looking at your bike(verynice!) it looks in the photo that you have suppressed (red)NGK plug caps???
These are not recommended for mag ignition bikes, as it weakens the spark, making starting harder
Black, unsuppressed NGK caps are available, or have you had the mag converted to electronic???
Best Regards

Very good to read your superb tank was intact (have somehow always had the notion that whatever damage happens it's not too bad as long as the tank (especially a chromed one) comes out ok ;O)
