Title: A late Autumn bimble in East Devon
Post by: BrianS on 16.11. 2018 22:13
The forecast for yesterday was for a dry day so my mate Derek and I went for a little trundle around the autumnal East Devon countryside. Derek on his MX ETZ (I think) 250cc smoky thing and me on my trusty Gold Flash.

First port of call was CMS at Pinhoe Exeter, to see their stock of new Royal Enfields. They are without doubt nice looking bikes and great value for money. The salesman, Chris Liddicoat, says the 650 Continental and Interceptor twins are eagerly awaited 😉

We then called in at Coldharbour Mill at Uffculme for refreshments but unfortunately the café was closed for the season.

The mist was getting heavier by the minute but we decided to brave it and head over the top to Dunkeswell as it was pretty certain the Aviator aerodrome café would be open.

We swapped bikes to ride to Dunkeswell and I have to say that I was pleased to get the A10 back! Derek was very complimentary about the A10 having ridden thousands of miles on Beezas in a past (and more sensible) life so knows them well. He has put one on his bucket list  *smile*

The cafe was open, thankfully, but as we sat there eating lunch we watched the mist rolling in and getting decidedly heavier.

Once back out on the bikes we found the mist almost like rain so took the quickest route back to Exeter avoiding the busy A30.

Derek is a great guide and knows all the little back road shortcuts!

I was definitely chilled by the time we got home but really nice to get out and Derek wasn’t bad company 😉
