Title: BSA B31 1952
Post by: Del 60 on 16.04. 2019 21:03
On a B31 is it possible to adjust riders foot pegs position         (to lower) especially on right side. ?
Right side has tube with a fix pin
To locate in a hole on engine plate.

You should find the tube has a fine spline which the cast footrest fits on, for height adjustment.

It’s not uncommon for these splines to get damaged and for it to (very) hard to slide the footrest off the tube/spline.

I use a slightly modified car ball joint splitter (threaded bolt type) to remove my B31’s left hand footrest.

As Kiwi says, they're held together on a spline. Put the tube in a vice and tap the footpeg off the tube with a hammer.

This works on the right side but because the left side one on mine gets stuck I have to use the puller as the footrest tube passes through the primary chaincase, so you can’t get the assembly off to put it in the vice.

As I was recently broken down in the middle of nowhere with a loose cushdrive nut and all tools to fix that EXCEPT the special puller this is something I can’t forget......  *problem*
