Hi BSA people , I would like to know when putting liners in an A10 barrel , do you use ones with a lip at the top ? Or is this not necessary ? Hope you can help , thanks Harry

G'day Joe.
The std replacement sleeves for our iron barrels are straight and inserted with a good interference fit. Sleeves for alloy barrels usually have a lip and a bit more of an interference fit.

Mine were done with a lipped sleeve.

Met an A65 where the straight sleeve had moved.

hi joe, if you use top stepped liners . why dont you consider raising a small lip also on the liner to make a gasless seal between liner and head.
similar to norman hydes 850 conversion for tridents.

Hi zurferjoe,

When i did mine our re-conditioner wouldn't attempt them without the lip, calling them "flanged" liners. He wouldn't be responsible for them slipping or turning. I couldn't get any such liners locally, but Adrian Wright at IMD pistons supplied them (together with top quality pistons and ring sets, that bedded in great and have stayed brilliant). Those liners just had to be trimmed off at the bottom..

Ok got some nice liners from Westwood Liners , now got to sort out some forged pistons ! Any suggestions ?
