Title: Intro into the BSA world

When I was 12 years old, a somewhat older friend had a BSA A10 scrambler - albeit homebuilt, that thing made a lasting impression on me. Fast forward over 40 years and  I work on brit bikes, mainly Nortons and Vincents or homebuilt specials but never found the time to look for a nice A7 or 10 to fit my own collection. My shed is full with all sorts of brit bikes but no BSA in between.  Recently a customer gave me a swinging arm frame, an empty engine and a front fork, working gearbox and a couple oiltanks. So now I plan to build a bike around these parts. I don´t need 100% authenticity but rather a nice looking, period-correct bike. So if any of you know that the Triumph/Norton crank from 19XX can be made to work or the barrel of model YY could be suitable - let me know. If a complete engine shows up, let me know as well. If parts of the plunger engines fit the later cases, let me know as I have access to some of that stuff. That will save me a lot of time. My workshop is equipped very well so making my own rods or cams is not a problem. Maybe someone has a primary case for a swingarm frame - get in touch with me please.

Welcome aboard ! Seems you have very good machining skills available.

Some questions could (should ? :0) rather be posted in the dedicated boards (Wanted & For Sale & A7A10 engine).

 Hiya Harty  *welcome* most internal engine/ tyranny bits are interchangeable but more beneficial to use later bits in early cases but as a10gf says, post specific questions in dedicated relevant threads... as i discovered, sometimes only the 'correct' part will work best  *pull hair out* *pull hair out* (i hope you have some)

Thanks for the welcome into your group of BSA enthusiasts! I realize that I should have posted all my "wanteds" in the appropriate section but now it´s too late. On the other hand everybody that´s reading my intro knows that I am the chap that needs a lot of stuff to get the thing from the bench onto the road.

Welcome to the forum. I can already tell that we have an interesting story to hear and, I hope, "watch" develop as you bring sundry pieces together to create a most interesting machine.  I believe you would very interested in a previous custom engine build by our member Danma. Please do start posting pictures of your project as soon as possible and as you progress. I think you could say we are minutia (but not rivet-counting) hounds when it comes to things A7 and A10.
