Hi Guys, Can someone please tell me how you work out the right thickness for the breather cork,and does it have to be exact? Cheers.

Its mostly trial and error ! If you have the old one use that as a starting point. Gasket sets have 3 or 4 different thicknesses to choose from. The main thing is to make sure you have no end float on the camshaft, any play and the cork will leak badly. It should be slightly compressed, but not too much so as to bind. Use one that's too thick rather than one that's too thin, and it will be right, a thick one will compress.

And make sure its well oiled when you fit it.

Put the outer cover on, measure the end play of the breather and pick the next biggest cork, some have mentioned about .010" compression,

I.E. I had .022" end play, put in the .030" cork and it will compress to fill the hole, make sure you soak the cork in oil overnight before installation.
