Title: Loom construction
Post by: A10 JWO on 18.01. 2020 17:50
I am building a new loom for a project bike. I am looking for the black binding tape to wind it all neatly together. I don't want to use shrink wrap or black sticky tape. Has anyone got a clue where I can find this shrinking violet. In fact has anyone got the correct name for it. Thank you.

Suppose you could use self-amalgamating tape. Doesn't stick to anything else.

Heat shrink tubing is available in many places in a variety of sizes, this link is where I bought some for an entirely different job, you do need a heat gun of course and some thought to how you'll arrange the loom  to facilitate the tubing, won't work if it's not a tube)

Gday mate,
I use 25mm wide black satin ribbon available from any sewing shop.
There is no glue on it and it only costs a couple of bucks. You just fix one end with electrical tape and tightly wind it on.
put a small bit of heat shrink on the ends.
its easy to do and looks good
cheers

I take my completed looms just held together with electical tape at critical junctures to a local firm that makes racing braid for yachts. They can bind the whole thing in a totally oringinal looking loom in any colour with or without a fleck for a very reasoanble fee. Looks the dog's bollocks!
