Title: Gear lever replacement
Post by: muskrat on 21.08. 2009 02:25
G'day all,
Went for a 200 mile ride on the '51 on Sunday and lost the gear lever 100 miles from home. After riding in 4th for about 20 miles and 6 red lights I discovered a 14mm ring spanner fitted at 11 o'clock position got me home. Just thought I'd pass it on

I've lost the lever and did not notice until the red light.

Fortunately my girlfriend who was comming behind me on her motorcycle, saw the
lever and stop to pick up.
After that, I put some nylon clamps and even if the lever get out, will be hanging. hehehe.

Hey, I lost my lever within about 100 yards after pulling away from a stop sign.  Searched for hours and never did find it... *problem*  I always keep a small pair of vise grips in my toolbox for such incidents.

Drill and tap the lever for a small set screw (say, 8-32) below the shaft.
