Title: Mirrors
Post by: AdrianJ on 15.06. 2020 14:27
I'm thinking of adding some handlebar mirrors (or just one) to my plunger A10.
Does anyone have any suggestions for decent items please?
If my memory serves me correctly - last time I had an A!0 the mirrors discoloured and the chrome flaked off.
Thanks in advance,
Adrian

I use something like this on mine, and with an all black Bumm mirror screwed into it. Doesn't look so in period but is mostly vibe free. I'd imagine someone will come along in a minute to talk about bar end mirrors, but I don't like 'em.

Halcyon bar end mirrors are the mutt's nuts. In my opinion, much better than mirrors on a stalk. Good enough for scooters I suppose... *whistle*

For the swinging arm A7 which only gets the best shiny bits I purchased a halcyon mirror, expensive but defiantly good quality. All the other have cheapish ones something like this https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Motorcycle-Handlebar-Bar-End-Mirror-Chrome-Single-Unit-fits-7-8-22mm-Bars/132077244688 (https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Motorcycle-Handlebar-Bar-End-Mirror-Chrome-Single-Unit-fits-7-8-22mm-Bars/132077244688) and they are all fine with no issues.

I have Halcyon mirrors on both ends now. They are not cheap but they are made of Stainless steel. The mirror on the right came as a flat mirror. I didn't like that, (not enough view. Bit like looking through a hole), so bought a circular convex mirror of the same diameter and changed it, with no difficulty. You may be able to specify the mirror type when you order Halcyon mirrors.

I have had one working itself loose, (during a club ride-out) so now I use Loctite on the threads.

Try Priory Magnetos for decent stainless bar end mirrors.

Personally, not in favour of bar-end mirrrors. Always afraid of them catching on something and they make the bike 'wide' for moving around. Always used stalk mirrors. Never any problem with them.

They can be folded in

Halcyon bar end are all that I use

As in 'folded in' by a passing car?  This afternoon I had my nearside car door mirror 'folded in' (smashed) by a dustbin left sticking out in the road on a by-road with no room to pull out.

+1 for Halcyon. Superb quality.

The problem I have found with mirrors on stalks is that at any speed, especially with a headwind, they are prone to shift. The other problem is that there is not always room on the bars for the clamps. My wife's mobility scooter has halcyon mirrors on stalks and they are just fine there. Her A10 has halcyon bar end mirrors. Just 'cos you can't walk far doesn't mean you can't ride.

Thanks very much folks. Very helpful.
Looks like a set of Halcyon bar end mirrors.
Width isn't a problem - it's an outfit.
What do you do with the existing grips? Just cut the ends off?

He does! I bought mine from him a month or two ago and they're beautiful!
