Title: What Timing Cover is this
Post by: Russ on 07.09. 2020 00:18
I have two Timing Covers which fit my 51 A10.  Note one has a Tube, for want of a better word, where the Timed Breather fits. When was this adapted and what have I got?
Thanks Russ

the second pic I'm guessing is much later Russ because of not only the breather but more so, because of the tacho mount in the casting, not sure when that was first intro'd but I'm sure Julian will know... *smiley4*

The bottom picture looks like mine from a 1962 A10.  Not really sure of the significance of the difference.

The second photo is the cover with "improved oil breather on timing cover" mentioned on this page from Glass's Motor Cycle check book, introduced for 1952 season.

There was a third later version with more supports for the baffle, shown below.

were tachos available back then then Julian? I assumed that the other difference was the tacho mounting, or was it for something else??

Thanks Guys for that info, very helpful.
Julian is there anything to be achieved by fitting the "Improved type". The one in the first picture is in reasonable condition and my bike, when finished, will not be ridden every day.
