Hello,
My name is Greg and I am the proud owner of a 1956 A10 Road Rocket. I have been told it is a 1955 due to the front brake not being full width but am only working with the parts that were "in the box" but the numbers on the engine and frame suggest 1956. I have gone through this bike a couple of times in the 30+ years I have owned it but the last break of 20 years has left it in a bit of a state. Part of this was sitting in various storage locations and part to being cannibalized for parts to support a friends BSA.
That said, I am working this winter (north America…) to get mechanical things back in order or even in correct order to start with. What I mean by this is that things like the gauges were 1970's Triumph and are being replaced with period chronometric's. The oil pump that put it out of commission 20 years ago is being renewed as well a rebuilt magneto. Not focusing on the needed cosmetics at this point and my goal is to have the bike back on the road come spring.
I am an old geezer that has been around motorcycles since 1978. I started on a 1974 Honda CL360 and moved on to BMW, BSA and Harley Davidson bikes. At one point in the mid-80's I was riding a BMW, Harley 45" Servi-Car and the A10 all on a given day. The shifting going from left to tank to right kept me thinking!
I keep coming across this forum and find the information invaluable and hope to be able to provide as well as ingest information. The fact that you all are willing to share what you have learned is really amazing.

Welcome, owning a 54 road rocket (in pieces) and a 55 road rocket engined race sidecar, I have a soft spot for the road rocket models, probably in my wallet...
The Ariel hubbed models are very similar, fork sliders and swing arm will be slightly different as the 56 theoretically has the cross over brake. But after 64 years anything is possible.
The 56 also I recall had the single port head (generally). the earlier 54/55 bikes had twin port heads although these were an option throughout for you lucky Americans!
Quite a few road rockets also had a special "transitional" large journal crank which is super smooth but has the early type sludge trap. One of mine had this the other didnt.
