Title: two's company?
Post by: Rocket Racer on 28.09. 2020 02:30
I was visiting a mate who had this in his possession, not of his doing. Sacrilege but its done. Someone put a lot of effort into it. Not quite sure why other than they could.
He is planning to put it in a working bike as a talking point.

What a strange thing!

What's the configuration of the ports?....Do they all link up?....Is it possible to block the central port and have one carb for each pot on the outside ports, and have a dummy carb in the middle?

It'd do peoples heads in! *smile*

yes the ports are all lined up. centre one is split as per a std single carb SR head, then the outers feed the respective one side only. I suspect it's a bit over ported for the valve size of an SR. I'd guess it would ideally need a set of rocket three 626's to have any airflow velocity.

Yes, probably over ported that's why I wondered if there's scope to block the centre port up.

Or block the outer two and have two dummy carbs! *smile*

It's a bit of a puzzle as to what he was thinking when he did it though.

I'd be more tempted to make it a display piece, a complete mocked up engine so it doesnt need to work, just polished up. Ideally with three beer taps fitted as a bar feature (something I have considered doing with an old single port iron big fin a7 head on a thin flange a10 barrel and some odd and internally damaged cases).

Hmmm.... Maybe he was a (very) lateral thinker.
I suppose you could add a twist grip to the LH side of the bars, and connect it to the two outside carbys, and have the central carby connected to the RH throttle.

So "Normal Mode"; use the RH throttle, "Sports Mode"; use the LH throttle, and "The Girlfriend Wants To See Me Mode": use both!!
