Hello to all.
I have a 1955 plunger A10 basket case i picked up from an old boy down the road. He took it off the road and stripped it down in 1972 and left it in his garden shed so you can imagine the state it's in. First restoration for me so very steep learning curve. So no doubt i will be asking lot's of questions.

Hi and welcome from another '55 Plungie owner.
Actually, I took my bike off the road at about the same time and kept it in various sheds and garages until I decided to restore it when I retired. Luckily mine was pretty much left alone so all the bits were together.
Have you got useful skills for the work?

Hi Mine is missing a few pieces and some are in a dreadful state. No useful skills unfortunately except enthusiasm and patience.

"Enthusiasm and patience " a pretty good starting place , next ,whereabouts are you living maybe someone will near to help from the forum . Also consider joining the BSAOC they could be of help and also pictures ,learn how to post pictures and you'll keep us happy plus easier to help sort problems , best of luck and welcome , Bob

I live in South Wales . Not far from Steve McFarland. When I picked the bike up and tipped the water out of the engine and looked at the mess i dropped the the engine off to Steve. So far a +40 rebore, reground and balanced crankshaft, needle roller conversion new cam and pushrods ect. Will be getting the engine back soon.

Welcome to the forum. *welcome* Guessing you are 56 years old, so, enough time to gather a lot of mechanical experience and to understand the work that's been done to your engine (by Steve McFarland?). Seeing the pictures you took when you pulled the bike from the garden shed would be very interesting. Then, pictures of the disassembled bits. (Why is it we can't enough of them, there pictures?) If you need help dealing with the size or quantity limits for pictures, just shout out and you'll get plenty of help to work it out.
By "no useful skills," do you mean, "never turned a spanner," or "not a motorcycle mechanic"?

No mechanical training. But I try to do as much as i can with the spanners myself .Will sort out pictures and you can see for yourselves the mess the bike was in. 😲
