Well i finally made it, a long time in the saving and purchased my first BSA, but it's been a lifelong (so far) motorcycling journey.
Living now on the Dartmoor national park, just outside Yelverton in Devon, luckily enough to have my first bike at the age of 12 a Yamaha DT100.
Fast forward to my 40th year, the year i purchased a car and hung up my full-time motorcycling gloves (gladly i'll admit) after covering well over 250K commuting miles purely on the Honda CB series. Now at the age of 50, it's been 10 years of various machines as a hobbyist/fair weather pleasure rider, all sorts of bikes from 125's up to an 850 - no matter the size or type i still love riding.
Like i'm sure so many of us, when my father passed and looking through the old photographs at his much loved BSA A7, add to that i am married to a Birmingham girl where family members once worked at the Small Heath factory - i thought it was a fitting Nod to both my father and wife to put my energy and passion into BSA.
Fast forward to a couple of weeks ago, it was almost an eerie surreal moment watching my BSA A10 roll down the ramp from the Bristol Superbike delivery van.
It's a mixed bag, A10 frame, A7 engine - i've lots to learn, so many questions to ask and looking forward to becoming part of the forum - not forgetting i am a complete BSA novice of course.
Speak soon - Dave

Devon, God's own county! I cut my teeth in Kingsteignton. Welcome DJ to a great forum, lots of support and advice here. I'm still a novice and i got my A10 in 1987. I also had most of the CB's, wish i had had the sense two keep one or two of them. Your bike looks great and ready for exploring the moors.
*welcome* *beer* *good3*

Hi DJ,
Hi and welcome to the Forum
It's a mixed bag, A10 frame, A7 engine
Is that information from the log book or a dating letter?
Aside from RGS and Super Flash models, the frames are stamped A7 for both A7 and A10

Welcome Dave - yes nice bike, my first flash was black I always liked black
-
A warm welcome received from all - and many thanks,
I have a dating certificate from the BSA owners club stating - "Dispatched from the factory as a 650cc A10 Golden Flash (1957)" further stating "It is fitted with a 500cc motor from a machine dispatched Aschoff, Krefeld Germany (1954)"
Youngster? - i'm definitely taking that :-)

A good introduction post. I enjoyed reading it, thank you.
You’re in the right place for support to get you up to A7/A10 speed, as I’m sure you know.
A7 engine in A10 frame? Look on the bright side - unless I’m mistaken, removing and refitting the rocker cover should be a doddle.
The bike looks very nice.

So sad to hear of Dave's passing, I had the pleasure of knowing him through our involvement with the Tamar valley group of the BSAOC.
