Hi all,
Thanks for the add. I'm slowly restoring a 1947 A7. My late Dad was a BSA man & owned a Star Twin & a Golden Flash. I'm a fan of British bikes in general & have a Velocette on the road.

Welcome aboard, thanks for intro!

Welcome JHN. Is that code for John?

Hi Col,
No it's the Reg No of my A7! I have the original green log book, engine & frame Nos match, so should be able to retain the Reg.
I'm Keith BTW

Hi Keith,
That makes more sense! I started out in 1968 with an A7. Great bike but worn out when I bought it. Still the easiest and most comfortable bike I ever rode. I'm green with envy. Can you post a picture of it?
I have an A10 Golden Flash now, working on it much more than riding it. *sad2*

G'day Keith *welcome*.
How did you come about the 47? Was it your dad's or similar to his?
I'm sure you've already found the long stroke section.
Best of luck with it.
Cheers

Thanks Muskrat.
It's been a complete basket case for only 30 years! Not my Dad's, I bought it from old gent on my round when I was a postie for absolute bargain price. It was propped against a tree in his garden! Pushed it round to my Dad's & we dismantled it together

Welcome JHN 791, that's an old Darlington reg, has it travelled far?

Hi Col,
It's still in bits at the moment. Have new parts to rebuild the forks. Camshaft is off for reconditioning. Once these are done I can start putting it back together. I've got photos when it was complete & just got it to my Dad's. Plus I have photos of parts going for painting. I've tried to post some on here but need to thumbnail them I think

Great to have that connection with your Dad ,when you get abit down it'll be to get you motivated again welcome aboard, Bob

Keith. Seems we have a lot in common. My a10 was my dads and also had a Darlington reg. 28 phn. I too am currently rebuilding the forks on mine. Have the taper bearing conversion going in whilst stripped down, progressive springs and internal dampers. My fork stations are currently at Mansfield hard chromers who specialise in motorcycle forks and come highly recommended. I’ll be making my own bronze bushes for the sliders once I’ve got the stations back, hopefully tomorrow. As regarding the photos i use image resizer app on my iPhone. Just scale them down a bit.
Look forward to hearing more progress on your build
