. . .the first BSA break light switch? How long did they stick with it?
Good ol' 280 really is a time capsule. Stuff I hadn't seen since the our Triumph guys tried to beat those BSA guys on the long straight dead end road in Negril, Jamaica. '79 and '80' I believe. I was riding a Jamaican Self Defense Force Triumph TRW. I never stood a chance with that old flat head twin. But I taught me most of what I still know about bikes.

I don't think that BSA had a brake switch until the early 50s, then it was an option.
Looks like someone adapted a switch from something else.

I see old photos with and without. I wonder if the US gov't insisted on brake light on imports. They have a history of this on vehicles. The DOT sets safety standards and importers have to comply. Headlight brightness, stopping distance and such.
It's a nice set up for an amateur job. Any 47 A& owners care to comment ?
