Dear All,
The gearbox stripdown continues.... I am beginning to thing that PO's solution for dealing with wear of any kind was grease - found quite a bit in the outer !!
I am torn between the potentially long-winded and expensive refurbishing of mine and the (risky) purchase of a hopefully better secondhand box to use - not a great choice!
Anyway, most of the bushes I've come across so far are worn. Apart from the usual suspects (layshaft) the ones used by the gearchange and kickstart shafts are also poor. Are these intended to come out easily & are replacements available?
Not much about this area of the bike is good, I even had to use an old gear puller I used to use on cars to remove the gearchange lever and kickstart from their shafts (and yes, I had removed the bolt/cotter pin!!!)..
The kickstart rachet pinion bush is also jammed on the mainshaft (so the latter is still hanging out of the inner casing at present). Nothing is easy on this bke it seems...
Any thoughts appreciated..

around £110 but that was for all the shaft bushes, plain steel bushes and phosphour bronze bushes that are shown in the parts book

Thanks Peter,
I'll make a list & trim to suit the budget - the box is generally worn & thus I will start looking out for a good one while doing what's needed to keep this one going!

Before you buy new bushes i would check the condition of the journals on the main and layshafts that run in them. These can often get worn and /or badly scored in which case they will require cylindrically grinding and undersize bore bushes fitting.

Not listed as a set but all individually listed by part number. You really need a parts book or phone them they can tell you what you need very knowledgeable

I believe jb restorations in cumbria specialise in reconditioning gear boxes
he might do the parts at a much better rate especially if he makes / gets them made himself

Thanks Peter & Steve,
I have an old Draganfly parts list to use .. Thanks for the recommendations, I'll follow them up. My mate is going to sleeve the area that the kick start stop has made nicely oval (no-one seems to sel the stop itself - mine is chewed a bit) but get the feelling he doesn't want the job of making the other bushes for me!!
Must get on with this, it's actually not raining and warm here...
Cheers,
Adrian
