Certainly can 'cause I haven't got one !!!!!

It should be a Lucas Altette fitted to the front engine plate top mounting bolt, LH side.
If you do happen to have a spare one, I'm yer man !

Someone is making them, I have seen new ones at Autojumbles £70. They look ok but I guess they are the usual imported junk.

Hi Ray

My Altette was not working when I bought the bike - it was not fitted and a cheapo horn was bolted on the bike. I had a go at fixing it but gave up in the end and bought an imported pattern one from Burton bike bits. It looks identical but does not have Altette stamped on the chrome ring - about £70 as far as I remember. Recondtioned genuine Altettes are available but are silly money.
You will need a cranked mounting bracket or the horn will foul the end of the dynamo. I got mine from Lyford Classics,

Jim

Ray,
If you have a nacelle the horn bolts onto the bottom yoke.
Your bike is from the change over period.
In the nacelle, from 1958 the HF 1441 was used and around your bike's vintage the 8H was fitted.
The horn is only mounted on the lower engine stud on bikes without a nacelle and this is the Altette model HF 1234.

I had better rectify my mistake.
Bikes with the early nacelle have the horn mounted on the engine stud also.

You were expecting something else, perhaps?

I'm going to fit two to my bike, then I will have a nice pair of hooters.
