Hi Chaps,
After recently using our (her) new (2 days old) Bosch dish washer to clean my rocker box , very successfully I may add, Im now looking in the other corner of our (her) kitchen, at the cooker to forward the cause namely the rebuild of (our) my A10.
Im just about to spray my barrells, and on reading the tin its says air dry for 30 mins, then to achieve full hardness, dry at 250 C gradually increasing the temp.
As Im not going to be running the engine for a while yet, i need to bake them i guess and my question is - is ok to put the barrells c/w with followers in that temp or is that the sort of operating temp range anyway.
Also will she notice the stink for, a day ,a week or a year after ?

Well done with the rocker box, does the dish washer open the alley up and clean it like bead blasting?
The oven works well in my experience. I pre-heated my barrels in the oven in order to weld a fin in place. Cooked it up at 50 degree intervals up to max 250 in the oven. Welded the fin and put it back in and took down in 50 degree intervals. No problems with the barrels - suspect they work at high temperatures - anyway bike is back together and running well.
The barrels had been fully cleaned and de-greased before they went in the oven but still created a blue haze in the kitchen and a smell that hung around for a couple of days. This prompted at hysterical response from head office once she returned. When it came to do the head valve guides I made sure she was out for longer.
One of those baby belling ovens would be handy in the workshop. I am still on the look out.

To be honest Stu it doesnt leave a vapour blasted type finish but as i say certainly a very very clean condition.
It didnt taint the dishwasher either and the only way she found out was because the d/w was still running when we went to bed and she thought it was stuck on the cycle she'd put on after tea!

G'day Spyke,
an oven in the workshop is a good investment, a hooded BBQ works well too. Also good for re-heating your dinner when it took too long to get that rockerbox on.

A pal got caught out boiling up his earplugs in the kitchen to clean off the old wax residues. And it's worse than you think; he used to do them in the kettle and got found out when he forget them and they turned up bobbing about in the cup of coffee she was making.
