Hi, my twin is going to get a rebore and new pistons. The only things I didn't replace on the recent rebuild were the pistons. I knew they and the bores were worn but I wanted to see whether with new rings fitted they would pass as OK - they didn't! I now have the pistons but asking local friends has drawn a blank on a good and reliable place to get them rebored. I've been given a few places to avoid, but that's all. I live between York and Hull in the UK. Thanks for any help.

IMHO if you can be bothered to send the bits or deliver them, you'll get a very good service from T&L Engineering in Bedfordshire. Proper engine reconditioners. Had cranks ground, barrels bored, barrels resleeved, rods rectified, head work, etc etc - very fair prices and very good work. Google takes you to Thailand and other places, but here's a good link (I think!)

There'll be folk further north I'm sure just as good, but if no-one comes up with . . .

T&L Engineering, great service. *clap*
The only company the AJS / Matchless owners club will recommend to grind their AMC cranks.

Sorry about the area but I have used this company and they were fine http://www.coventryboring.co.uk/#/at-the-heart/4537729699

No use to you in York I'm afraid but if you are near London I've found Sutton Rebore Service very good. They also did the alloy head for my A10.

Thanks to everyone who has replied. I've ended up going back to the guy I bought the pistons from (Roger Shirman at Cake Street Classics, who is a pre-unit BSA twin specialist). I tend to agonise terribly about using new suppliers (I suspect this is quite common!)

Hi jjbsa, you have chosen wisely !! (sorry for that obviously been watchiing to much Indiana Jones with the grandkids ) I've had excellent service from him in the past and I've seen positive mesages about him on this forum from other people best wishes BobH.

Thanks Topdad, good to know that!

Roger put my engine back together following a main bush seizure after 250 miles from the first build (not his). I suspect he's not cheap but a top engine guy.
