A Happy New Year to all

Please help me with a little research. I recall seeing a photo of the end of a damaged alton, and I thought it was on this forum. But I have searched as best I can and cannot find it. Please can anyone point me to it on here or elsewhere.

Further does anyone have any up to date numerical data on alton output vs speed? I have a graph of amps vs rpm for an early unit published in the Vincent MPH magazine (attached). But there have been several design updates since then. Even better has anyone tired of using an alton who would be willing to lend it to me for a time to measure on my rig?

Any information will be very welcome, so sincere thanks in advance.

While we are on the subject, has anyone heard of a thing called a "Chinamo". I've come across a couple of references to them and as far as I can work out they are another replacement for the Lucas Gen. I dont want one, just curious.

Chinamos are (or at least were?) available throught the Vin***t spares scheme as a substitute for Lucas/Miller units.
They are of Chinese origin (as the name would indicate  ;)), I'd guess Chanjiang (Chinese version of the BMW R71, aka Ural, aka Dnepr, etc.). So basically should be an old Bosch unit.

IIRC they got 80mm in diameter, different drive and mounting system, so deffo not an easy, direct replacement. Then there's the non-original appearance. I for one wouldn't put one on any of my bikes, let alone on a Vin***t (if I had one).  *smile*

That would make sense, buy one of the most expensive classic bikes on the market and fit the cheapest nastiest replacement generater you can find.
