Title: Where are all the BSA's?
Post by: Felters on 08.01. 2012 06:27
I always thought BSA was the most prolific UK manufacturer - or maybe it was Triumph after all?

Either way there were thousands built yet whenever I go to a bike meet of one sort or another I very rarely see one.

For example I live near a well known bikers cafe called Loomies here in the UK. Popped in there for lunch yesterday and the car park was busy - Commando's, beautiful Triton, obscure russian two strokes - even a Matchless twin. Bsa's - apart from mine - zero. Really no excuse - weather was cold but bright and sunny and there were a lot of bikes out there.

So do you ride yours in the winter? Have I got my fact's wrong? Maybe there are only a handful on the road after all...

lots of them on the road up here Felters, would be lots more if their BSA owners could ride all their bikes at once, and there lies your answer possibly - few people have just one
Bantam owners in particular I have noticed seem to collect them profusely ( some free range some in batteries  *smiley4*)

I recommend this  subject is a short one in case they bring in rationing

Lucky country down here, ride all year round. I ride all mine at least once a week.
In our local club of about 50 members, 5 have A's (all more than one) and are ridden often. Only a few Trumps seen now & then.
 Cheers

Mine are all tucked up in the shed as I'm tucked up in a hospital bed... wont be riding for a couple of weeks. Then first week in Feb I'll be taking one to the Dragon Rally in North Wales for a few days... IF I'm up to it.

Wishing you a speedy recovery mate. Think of it as R&R so you can cut loose at the rally.
Cheers

This goes back to the original thread...Hi Felters, have you forgotton the chap with the Super Rocket you met the other day! It sounds like you who I met with the A7?
Loomies is a great bike meet place. The first time I went there it was all fairly modern bikes.Everyone friendly.Lately I have seen alsorts.I have met the matchless twin man and many others.
Appologies if it was not you who I met a couple of weeks ago.
Cheers. Mark.

Hi Mark - yes it was me... old age has a lot to answer for.

I'm just sorting the clutch out - so ironically mine is off the road this week and I'm using my BMW. Should be back on the BSA by next weekend though. We ought to organise a BSA meet at Loomies - just to see if there are more than two of us on the road in Hampshire...

Despite my memory lapse it does seem to me that I see a lot of bikes apart from BSA's though  *conf*

Rgds

Hi Mike, 'Prophet of Doom' here! Glad to see you're still having fun on your Beezer. Hampshire's a bit far for the Cheshire Mob but hope to see you again in September.

Hi Andrew - yes see you in September!

For the avoidance of any doubt - the rest of you reading this should know that Andrew and I are talking about the Ace Cafe Brighton Burn Up. If you are in the UK it should be on your "bucket list".

Cheers
mike

PS the mag is running just fine.

PPS edit to add it's on the 9th September this year - http://www.acecafeevents.com/reunion.html
