Title: best choice of battery
Post by: Frenchy on 23.08. 2012 16:57
I've been running my 1957 A7 battery-less, and I'd like to pick up a 6 volt battery.  I'm not switching to 12 volts right now despite the many benefits.  Any suggestions for which battery to get?

FWIW, after 2 years of working on this bike it's finally on the road.  And a large part of that is due to info and advice from this forum.  What a great resource.

I fitted a Burlen Battery 6 years ago, it is maintenance free "dry cell" and fits into a dummy case in the original position.
Despite infrequent use I have never had to attend to the battery which even over the winter layoff has always held it's charge.
When riding these days I have my lights on dip beam.

I just use a small gel type (ex burglar alarm IIRC) that fits inside a rubber battery casing. It's only about 4 Ah but does the job quite well and was very cheap!
