HI just looking for an opinion really.
First thing I wanted to do myself was to replace the normal nut used on the fork pinch bolt with a nice stainless steel domed ones.
Bolts where in the wrong way around so would not come out without loosening the Nacel.
Anyway autojumble at Boreham (Chelmsford) was rubbish and no nice shiny domed nuts. So got home and started to put it back to together.
that holds nacel together into back of nacel, lots it can not find it anywhere.
Now the question could it have got between the Nacel and the fork legs, worse could it be in the spring on the fork leg heading towards the oil seal etc.
It may be a stupid question but I am a little protective having only had her back for 6 weeks *sad2* *sad2*

Welcome to the world of mechanical engineers. This kind of stuff happens every now and then.
Usually when we are at a customer finishing a job, already late, putting the last bolt in, and then drop it....... *problem*
Sometimes you get lucky, and are able to fish it out with a magnet.
If that doesn't work, then there's no option but taking the bloody thing apart until it's found.....
Just don't leave it in, you never now what damage it can do.

The odds are pretty good sorry to say. Murphys law, which is a pessimistic version of sods law, applies here.
I mean what the odds of dropping a nut and seeing it ricochet around the bonnet interior and then drop neatly down an open spark plug hole. That happened to me over 30 years ago and I still not over it...... >:D

yes sods law I know that one well.
I just don?t see how it can get in there, as there does not appear to be a gap, but I have search everywhere three times used magnets etc.
So step one clear garage and sweep it out, check sweepings.
If no luck wheel out, mudguard off, fork legs out spring out carefully check between legs and seal holders.
If I have not found it then, the strange sound you here all over the county will be me swearing.

A few things here, if you strip it, and whether or no you find it is good practice anyway. I think I've had mine back together and apart again at various stages a dozen times, just because I couldn't remember if i DID do up that nut, or to rearrange something. Thing is I'm starting to remember that I think it's a motorbike I have, not just a bunch of bits, so may just have to push on 'That' pedal soon!
Trouble with stainless is, magnets don't work.. *sad2*...I like stainless, and I like magnets..

Umm... *conf*suppose it is a fashion statement, never thought about it. Jeans just don't look right without turn ups to me.
I've also had bolts go missing that had landed between the links on the bike's chain, only found it because I tried to move the bike to get a better look at the floor, the bike rolled so far and then wouldn't budge....

Dutch I'm probably way off but apart from James Dean or somebody else making it look cool I always assumed it was our mothers way of making jeans last a bit longer on growing boys, the turn ups got less as you grew and your legs got longer. would have been a silly idea as the knees wore out first but then the back pockets got sacrificed as patches.
Ah I remember the smell of new denim on those few occasions you got a new pair

Riding my bike back from Cake Street I stopped in Long Melford for a pint. Put on the steering lock and then one step away dropped the keys. They landed staight on the middle of a drain in the gutter, bounced off one of the bars and landed on the road next to the grating. It's not all buttered side down you know.
I shouldn't care to repeat it though.

So that might be the same grate that I encountered when I was 16 and when it was super cool to flick yr sidestand down before stopping and stop feet up with it on the side stand
Works well until you stop with the sidestand above a grate.
It took quite a while for my mate to stop laughing and lift the Honda c100 off my (very painfully) trapped leg

Stuck between the Bottom Yoke and the Nacell.
Yipeeee
Forgot that my fork pulling tool, pulling tread was broken so used it as a long rod to pull the legs into the top yoke. *yeah* *yeah*

Happy for You Angus, I personally would've torn the nacelle to shreds by now, and lots of other stuff like cuffs *smile*, but you show resilience believe me I spend half each day looking for stuff!
My first youngsters second name is Angus- picked it meself.
Still chuckling over previous posts.... *smile*
