Title: Converting Magneto to electronic
Post by: pato08 on 20.12. 2012 04:51
Hi All, and Merry Christmas

Some time ago I read an article posted on this forum or on a link from this forum, about converting the standard magneto to electronic, e.g. using the outer case and modifing the iners to suit.
The question is (haven searched this forum) does anyone remember the link ? I came with very good drawing on how it was done.

Thanks in advance

Pato

G'day Pato, I got my original mag replacement electronic from Kirby Rowbotham and just had a look and he also does them in the old mag body.  http://www.kirbyrowbotham.com/ignitions.php?page=1  I would imagine others do the same. Might have to get a stuffed K2F and have a play.
Cheers

I have not looked at the fitting instructions but it looks like you could leave the working mag in place and should you have problems, dead battery etc, you could replace the contact breaker plate and HT leads and away you go, best of both worlds?

Musky you are the man, that is exactly what I was looking for. I have an old body (mag that is) and a near new recon. I see on flee bay the other day a recon went for 281 quid ($429.60)
item # 380533622201

I convert my old one and have the original as a back up
