Title: Ariel rear brake cable abutment
Post by: roadrocket on 30.03. 2013 08:44
Hello!

One more in the Ariel brake conversion department: after having enlarged the right hand side rear spindle slot, and succesfully installed the wheel, I put on the brand new cable bought from one of the major dealers. But the threaded part was of a much smaller diameter than the (brand new) abutment on the brake plate. (Both hubs were bought freshly renovated with new moving parts). The abutment 42-5592 is a rather special part, so unlikely to come from a big box, randomly picked. Did the threaded part on the cable change over the years? I gues I will have to get a new one of the correct size, and have to take hub apart...

Just an update: the one on the front brake is correct, and as the parts book show that they should be alike front and rear, one of them must just have been changed for some reason.
