Hi everyone, a few weeks ago someone was asking about brake enhancements or poss just getting the blasted things to work reasonably . I mentioned about a bespoke company who could supply a modern equivalent to the ferodo green racing linnings but couldn't find the article ,well as per usual I found when looking for something completely different ! the name of the company was Custom Brakes and HydraulicsLtd, 295, city road , Sheffield, S2 5HH TEL 01142 767971. The replacement is R252 . Hope this may be of help to someone regards BobH.

I think you're referring to my "Front brake mystery" thread.
In the mean time I obtained a set of correct linings through Rocket Racer (ain't it great this forum! *good3*)
I have put the custom brakes' website in my bookmarks anyway, I have a feeling I may need them at some point, because the Morris' brakes also need to be refurbished in the near future.

what are green racing linings enquiring minds want to know *????*
Apologies for hijacking the post with my question but......
I've just pulled apart the Ariel style hubs I had buried in the back forty and the linings on the shoes are green and appear to be riveted to the shoe.
They appear to be solid, no cracks and are about 4mm thick.
On the workbench they stop the rim when I push the brake lever but I'm wondering if 4mm is enough thickness to be of benefit when asked to do the real stopping with a running engine *eek* (assuming all is ok with ID of hub)
.......or should I get them in the mail to one of the outfits mentioned above for re lining ?
