Title: ignition timing

Hi all
 i would like to call on someones knowlege here if i can
my problem is that i have just re built my 58 gf with 7 5 1 pistons,spitfire cam,manual mag but have retained the iron head for now
do i set ignition to standard settings or that of an rgs?or indeed one of the other models

Ian,
             I would try 5/16" as a starting point. Check out Orabanda's posts on dyno testing.

G'day Ian.
I'd stick with std or slightly retarded timing with those pistons. The 357 won't make any difference to the timing but will move the sweet spot higher in the rev range.

Just saw Trev's post. 5/16" would be close. It also depends on the fuel used.
