1959 A7 SS
I have fitted a new head gasket ang started the bike but
I am having trouble fitting the tank center bolt
at the moment I have a set screw (with 24mm thread + washer) which passes though the tank into a theaded boss on the frame
Looing at the illistations at the https://www.draganfly.co.uk/index.php/bsa/bsa/a710--b3133--c101112--m202133/category/958-petrol-tank-mountings (https://www.draganfly.co.uk/index.php/bsa/bsa/a710--b3133--c101112--m202133/category/958-petrol-tank-mountings)
it indicates a center bolt(looks longer than mine) and center bolt rubbers
It also lists a tank bolt socket 42-4078, it that the theaded boss on the frame or does it go into it
Please advise what should be fitted.

Hi there,
Is the centre bolt and associated fittings the same that were on the bike when you removed that fuel tank?
If so, there should be no reason why they shouldn't go back together unless there was a damaged thread.

Hi VW,
Yes 42-4078 is the stub threaded into the frame
Rubber, 42-8012 goes over the tank bolt which is a special shouldered bolt,
it prevents overcompression of the rubber
The square rubber pads 42- 8049/51 in the link are taped to the frame to isolate the tank from vibration
42-8052 rubbers are fitted to the frame to prevent tank roll

Thanks chaterlea25
I have only had the bike 9 months and only had the tank off twice
I only have one setscrew which is only just long enough and may have damaged the thread
I have ordered the new parts from Dragonfly and can only hope the tread in the frame boss is good enough

Sure it will be okay when I picked my frame up it had bee outside for 3 mths the socket was full of crap and rust but a clean up and a couple of run throughs with the bolt bingo sorted best of luck, BobH.
