Title: Plunger clang

Hi Have a 1950 Golden Flash. Runs nice but the clang from the plungers seems too loud too be right?.. I have a 1957 C10L with plungers and this has a rubber bump stop so is quiet and all in pretty good. Want to know if there is a bump stop from another plunger unit that might be suitable or if there is a fix that anyone has employed!?

Can't help you with the plunger question, but, damn! that looks like a fun rider. Nice of you to keep the wife happy by keeping the oil off the stonework.

G'day Ben. I don/t think pump stops would work. The travel is limited when the springs become coil bound.
Just loose some weight and dodge the potholes  ;).

Hi Ben,

Are you certain it's the plunger units?  The centre stand will hit the silencer if its return spring is slack.

 Hey Ben,  It sometimes happens with me too, but only on savage ones. I'm ~80kgs, and had springs made, how often does this happen..? and is it on the load or rebound...?...? I don't know why I ask, as I think there's not much can be done except change the springs, or as previously stated, change your style and dodge the holes *eek*

I'm a good 14 stone but do chuck it about. I have a sneaking suspicion that the mudguards also contribute to the clang.. More testing required. Will tie the stand up but I think I would recognise that noise.
Will get on a diet and ride like my nan.
