Title: stanchion repair
Post by: jachenbach on 20.08. 2015 03:47
Somewhere or other, probably in one of my books, I came across a suggestion for repair of minor pitting in fork stanchions. It was to fill the pits with JB Weld and smooth with superfine emory cloth. As I have multiple fork sets (3 bikes) which could all use new stanchions (not in terrible shape, but I'm sure they'll leak if I merely replace seals), I'm tempted to try it and see if it really works. I'm wondering if anyone on the forum has ever tried it? If not, I'll give it a go and let you know how it works. All 3 bikes are originally unplated tubes and covered by flexible gaitors or metal covers, so appearance is not important, only function.

I haven't tried JB weld but we did it with Araldite and it worked fine
