Hi Jules, I am not up to date on Hepolite, but many riders think the rings aren't much good - they use Gandini's. I purchased IMD piston & rings sets from UK. No smoke or issues from day 1. The bores need a very fine finish though, as rings are chrome and moly.

The set of modern Hepolites I bought was supplied with a ring set with an unusual expander behind the oil ring which was like a spring but thicker and flat section and a thin wire pin to locate the ends together. I dont know if they are Hepolite but this setup, pistons as well, have been excellent.

Agree with the above. No issues apart from the expander ring in the oil ring. I find I need to reduce the expander ring in length as it prevents the ring closing enough to get the barrels on. They are also available in 7.25:1 which I prefer, and 6.5:1 and 9:1

The modern hepolite rings are readily available and I routinely use them. the only catch is you need ring compressors to get the oil rings to fit
