Think bike sticker

Coming back from my dads in Hyde with my wife on the back, 30 mph speed limit, I was doing 32 (very keen on speed cameras and points and fines here in england) guy behind me right up my ar*e (idiot). Pulls past me at the lights and unbelievably he had a think bike sticker in his rear window    . Been thinking about it and he must have borrowed the car because he definatly wasn't thinking bike at all.
I think the consideration from other road users nowadays has gone downhill a bit. Luckily though there are still people who do still think bike.

the one good thing about doing 32 mph is it gives you more time to react to all the foolish things people do, ive had three idiots pulling out on me up to now.

 Yes they (car drivers) are getting worse. They don't care, safe in there little cocoon. But jeeze don't they whinge when a truck merges in or tailgates on them. As part of driver (car) training they should be dragged behind one on a rope at 30 mph for 100 yards.
 I think the only ones out there that think bike are bike riders, most truck drivers aren't bad either. I look at every car around and ask myself , how are they going to ruin my day.

Every time I get on my bike I always half expect to get knocked off, good in a way as it keeps you alert.

It is because of bad car drivers that I always fit indicators they do make a big difference. I think the main problem is they do not understand that when coming upto a junction you can signal to turn by hand but you have to have both hands on the bars to change down and execute the turn, they do not see the hand signal and then anticipate what you are going to do not always getting it right.

I think the main problem is everyone (except us) is in such a hurry (time is money) and too many distractions (mobile phone, GPS, eating, drinking) whilst driving. But even with all the soundproofing in modern cars they WILL hear me coming (loud pipes save lives).

Musky ; Only 100yds ?? very reasonable, should be at least a mile given that the average driver has the attention span of a goldfish, actually probably an injustice to goldfish!!
My old boss's technique from 1967 still holds true believe everyone car driver is an idiot and put as much distance between yourself (  ie infront ) and them as poss .Unfortuneatly it doesn't help at juctions!! Regards BobH

My youngest was returning a customers bike after MOT with the wife behind in a car, to collect him. came to 3 way t raffic lights, green so carried on.
half way through roadworks woman driver pulls out from other side and nearly wipes him out , followed closely by the wife.

after a bit of ranting she admitted "I dont look for bikes"!!! he replied" thats why my brothers now in a wheel chair then"".
the wife wasnt impressed as her car was nearly hit as well, so dosnt look for cars either!!

The one thing I miss from a modern bike is indicators, like the idea of louder exhaustes as well, could turn my standard exhaustes into stubby s  .

There really are some total fools on the road, they (the government) always carry on about bike death rates being massive, what they don't tell you is how many deaths where caused by the car driver, a massive percentage i bet. yet there's not that much taught about bike awareness when you take your driving test.

You can accuse car drivers of all sorts of things but when you are on a bike ultimately its you who will end up in the ambulance, or worse !

So, trust no one. Treat them all as idiots.

Dont for a moment think because you "have right of way" you will get it.

I've had two major run ins with cars in my life and have fortunately (depending on your point of view !) survived both but they taught me a lot about the average car driver, hard way to learn though.
