Siamese exhaust pipes required
« on: 12.12. 2020 18:56 »
Hello I am searching for some Siamese pipes for my A10 swinging arm bike build. Can anyone recommend anywhere in the UK to buy some from?
The ones I have seen have a join in the two pipes. Surely you can buy them all welded up as a complete system! I just haven't found any yet but not fully sure of all the suppliers I should be searching.

If anyone comes across some please can you send me a link.

Kind regards
Dave

Dave, they have to be two separate pipes or you wouldn't be able to fit them.

Dave - if they were 'all welded up as a complete system' you'd have to cut your cylinder head in half to fit them!

Ah yes i see the point now, as two halves of a cylinder head isn't much use!  *smile*
Apologies for posting a silly question now I'm enlightened with common sense!

Thanks for the link Tomcat as they look perfect. I can have another look and get some on order now.

No such thing as a silly question, dave , mine fitted over 10 yrs ago and still pretty near perfect came from Cake St Classics  ,not sure if hes still trading but wekll worth a call. If no joy on his landline etc give Barley corn a call . The owner there knows the guy from cake st and as an aside Barleycorn make some wonderful stainless bits so it could be a good call either way.

Cake Street (Yes, an actual road) is in the village of Laxfield, Suffolk.  01986 798504 will get you top man Roger. These days he's winding down a bit but still very much in business.

Thank you for the advice and glad people didn't think it was a silly question. There is a set of normal A10 downpipes that are new but are corroded already with the spares I have. I really want to fit Siamese and conscious they have to look right.  I will definitely give him a call this week now I have his number. Thank you!

Cheers for the number Swarfy!
I hadn't heard of him until you both gave me the advice.
This is a brilliant board and the bike is starting to take a bit of shape now. I'm following the post on the Indian petrol tanks as well which is helpful as I've not much choice on that one for cost purposes.

Dave I bought a set (ebay) many years ago but I couldn't get them to fit to my satisfaction, the small pipe seemed a bit of a sloppy fit into the larger element, maybe they're supposed to be like that I don't know (anybody know if that's correct).
They did fit but I thought they should go further into the head, the head was an alloy, don't think that should be a factor (again does anybody know), also the long pipe had been cut but that didn't seem to be a problem.
They have been sitting in my shed so If you want to try them you can have them for the cost of postage now and if you can get them to fit send me a small donation to my next project (you decide)
All the best - Bill

Hello Bill, that's a very kind offer!
I keep looking at the photograph of the large gap between the two pipes and can't see how they would clamp up correctly. As much as its a really kind offer, I think I would have the same opinion as you and not be happy with them.  Thank you anyway!

I and, from the number of posts, many others have spent time bending, swaging, welding, extending etc. both siamese and twin pipe set-ups to get an acceptable fit. Wherever you decide to buy pipes it’s possible you’ll have work to do.
If you find pipes that fit first time let us know where! But, as pipes are essentially hand made, the next customer may not be so lucky.

Another thought - with stainless, if mods are necessary, at least the finish is readily recoverable.

Hi Terry,
I have bought some today from the advice of who to speak to on this post , all be it they will need Chroming once I've got them to fit. Hopefully they won't need much fettling and I can find a company that will chrome them in the UK. Hint hint if anyone knows who to go to for Chroming in the UK?

Kind Regards
