Wouldn't it be dodgy (and very smokey) to run if there was no return to the tank.
How long would it take to empty the tank into the sump if the pump was working?

Rockers are fed by returning oil. They can last for quite some time just on mist.
With no scavenge happening the sump would fill/tank would empty in about 10-15 minutes at idle. At about the 2-3 minute mark she'd be smoking, after 5 minutes she'd be creating puddles, doubt she'd run with a full gut of oil.

I always use clear pipe to the rocker feed and I can see it as I ride. Wouldn't have it any other way.
The bike isn't standard though.
