a10 crankcases

managed to pick up a pair of matched crankcases today £80 seem ok some base studs not real clever but otherwise threads ect ok   i think they are 1960?? da10  10251 is any type of  blasting advised or just a good clean thanks

Theres an oil passage in the timingside case from the PRV up past the cam gear and leading onto the cam trough. theres a very small hole bleeding oil to the cam gear
If blasting media gets into this oilway its impossible to clean out without drilling out blanking plugs
So beware of this before commiting the cases for blasting

1960 is correkt.
I have all my cases glasblastet, but complete save with all covers and holes locked up with wood.
A good cleaning with a steam cleaner is adviced.

Soda or ice blasting are the only "safe" ways to clean out cases.
Soda is water soluiable so a dip in boiling water will remove any media left behind and ice ( usually CO2 ) will simply melt off.
