A7 Kill Switch Wire Question
« on: 15.01. 2016 03:26 »
I am finally approaching completion of my '53 A7. The bike was mostly in pieces when I found it and I believe I've gotten most of the wiring sorted out. I believe the kill switch is correctly located on the left center of the handle bars-my question is the type, size, color of the wire connecting it to the mag. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

G'day Tom....  the Kill switch on my 57 swing arm is mounted on the right side of center,
a solid WHITE wire from the Mag to the switch which when pressed earth's out the mag..
The horn & headlight dip switch are mounted on the left hand side...

Thanks, WozzA, definitely helpful. Hard to tell what was where when most of it is in boxes.

Originally the kill switch was mounted dead centre of the handle bar, between the clamps, on the standard models.
The models with the damper knob retainer had the switch to one side.

These show the wire to be white and the button mounted dead center of the handlebars.
Don't know about the gauge, but as it only has to ground the mag, I'd think 16-18 swg.

here's pic of my auto advance mag end cap
it's got a port for the wire to enter the mag
the kill switch on my rig is mounted centre on the damper knob retainer
the wire i'm using has the following marks on it
"Belsen high temp 7mm metallic cable 11"
It works fine
If your cut out wire connects to the outside of the mag end cap then i would say 16G would be ok

Scotty and Clive, thank you! I believe that gets me there.  My mag is the same as Clive's with the additional port in the end cap.
